A hospital floor is no laughing matter. Patients come in sick, ill or injured, and need the daring men and women of our employed health employees to be capable of doing everything other than looking at the floor as a problem. You often see linoleum floors at hospitals. This is because it is easy to clean, but can we not replicate that look with tiles? Per our last discussion, we spoke about school floors. What about hospitals? Here are five dire things hospital floors need to have down right to avoid problematic experiences while working.

1) Hospital floors need to be easy to clean. What is a hospital known for? Vomit and blood, one might say, and as disgusting as that may sound, it is true! Think about what a hospital experiences every day. They need to be easy to clean because of the many bodily fluids (yuck!) they will experience daily. It is best to have a flooring that is capable of cleaning.

2) Hospital floors need to be high traffic. Hospitals experience high foot traffic. As seen here, commercial use has some good flooring types that are easy to clean. However, blood dries. It really depends on the area of the hospital you are in. If you are in an ICU or an emergency room packed with people, you can expect a few bodily floors to leak out now and then.

3) Hospital floors need to be wearproof. Think about this: a hospital contains thousands of footsteps daily, and consists of rolling mechanisms such as machinery. These floors need to be wearproof, as best seen in this blog. When you are at a hospital, you see high foot traffic; you see machinery being moved around; you see plenty of traffic.

     Hospitals need durability!

4) Hospital floors need to induce warmth. People often forget (and so do many doctors) that hospitals need to be able to soothe both patients and visitors. When you buy Europine flooring, you can rest assured that you are buying warm colors. You often see linoleum, white-tile flooring at a hospital. This is great, because you want it to be easy to view and notice when something (such as a bodily fluid) has seeped its way onto the ground below. In this sense, hospital flooring needs to be warm and inviting! Really, they do!

5) Hospital floors need to be capable of easy construction! When you break a tile, what do you do? Do you block off an area to fix a linoleum floor, or do you simply buy LVP or LVT flooring and remove, sand, glue and repeat? This is a question many do not think about. With heavy traffic comes heavy wear, and the last place you want “under construction” signs outside of are hospitals. When you want to find the right flooring for a hospital, you will want to choose LVP or LVT flooring. This allows you to easily remove, sand, and glue down a new tile. We do not know if this is already done, but we will keep you updated. Keep track of us on this blog and we will follow up on this!
